Pamela Jenkins-Lane NZPF Dip.MF
Floral Designer and Tutor
Rotorua, New Zealand
I started my floristry career at the age of 16 as a junior in Auckland and quickly developed a passion for the fabulous world of flowers and 47 years later I have never lost it.
After training for three years, I went to London where I spent the next two years working as a floral designer.
Returning to New Zealand I moved to Rotorua and opened Rotorua Florist in 1972. I am still here 37 years later and still passionately involved in my shop and recently with The School of Floral Design, which I opened with a colleague and fellow Master Florist.
During the years I have been very involved with New Zealand Professional Florists obtaining my Diploma and Masters Qualification. As a past President I am still very active int he organisation both as a Moderator and Assessor.
I tutored at Level three, four and five in the Commercial Floristry course at Unitec New Zealand for two years and am currently a tutor at The School of Floral Design in Rotorua. I get much pleasure and satisfaction from seeing my staff and students gaining knowledge and developing their skills under my guidance.
It has been my privilege to have judged at the Ellerslie Flower Show both in Auckland and in Christchurch. A special highlight in my career was being asked to judge at the Melbourne Flower and Garden Show - an amazing experience. More recently I have been appointed an Accredited Interflora Judge.
Throughout my career I have gained so much - attending conferences, judging, teaching, the opportunity to travel both in New Zealand and overseas and wonderful friendships.
My life revolves around my chosen career. My family, my business and travel are all equal passions that bring me joy and happiness.
